President Trump presented his recommendations on discretionary funding levels for fiscal year 2026. His Budget proposes “unprecedented increases for defense and border security”. Defense spending will increase 13% to $1.01 trillion for 2026. For Homeland Security, his Budget commits a historic $175 billion investment specifically allocated to “fully secure our border”.

The plan lays out the agenda to cut the budgets of “non-defense” programs like the National Parks Service.
